About me

“The “I” is detestable” said once the french poet Arthur Rimbaud. Some years before, the danish philosopher Soren Kierkegaard mentioned that he was never able to forget himself, not even while sleeping. “I can abstract myself from everything but myself.” Defect? Virtue? I do not know. In the “I” desires make themselves manifest, virtues are cultivated and errors are redressed. At least part of the life force finds its roots in the “I” which uses it for self preservation. Personally I must say that it is really difficult to talk about me, because I do not pretend to give the impression that I am fascinated with myself.

My relation with Photography begins in 1991, while I was a student at the Anáhuac University in Mexico City. Since this moment Photography became very special for me. The images I took let me transport back in time to moments I wanted to recall. That was the moment when I discovered that Photography means Instant and Eternity at the same time.

The most of my pictures are firmly rooted in the landscapes of our planet. I take pictures of the Nature because I believe in it. I am seduce by its beauty. I can spend hours flying above the white peaks of the Brooks Range in Alaska. I would love to lose myself in the delicate, everlasting beauty of a forest in Colorado. The American desert takes my breath away. And I could bury myself forever and ever in the lime-green clarity of the Caribbean.

I invite you to take a photographic journey through my pictures, the way I see and perceive it. Through my own eyes. I want to let it clear, that this tour is highly and highly selective, and anything but comprehensive. I would like to show you not only forms and shapes of the nature, but also powerful landscapes, portraits as well as different cultural manifestations.

Every one of these pictures comes with a story. Each reminds me of an extraordinary place as well as a special experience. I can assure you that the World is a magical place.

Have fun on this journey,

Jean-Paul Krammer
